Hello, i really need some help identifying an I.P address. I have a used I.P PTZ camera. I cannot find the I.P using a scanner so i decided to use Wireshark. I have tried directly connecting the device into my laptop and into a switch (i have saved my findings for both). When i plug the PTZ into my laptop it shows traffic so that tells me the device is not dead?

below is the link to my files. I hope someone can help

Were the captures done in Promiscuous mode?
What does "shows traffic" mean?

Hello, thank you for taking time to help. By traffic, i meant packets....or communication, forgive my ignorance but im new to this way of recovering I.P address.

What is promiscuous mode? i am trying to find that option but am struggling. To be honest i am using it without changing any options. version 3.2.4

thank you again for your help

When attached directly to the laptop does it require a crossover cable?

I've tried crossover cable, patch cable and even a cat 6 cable just in case to my laptop. I am puzzled. Any suggestions?

Since you see some traffic when you are directly connected, I would think that might indicate that the link is up. However, I only see HP traffic as source in either capture file which is presumably the capture laptop. Can you power cycle the camera while connected to the switch, and your laptop is capturing? You might get lucky - maybe some DupIP arp probes, maybe an ARP for a default GW, dhcp or bootp, etc.
