If the new version of Wireshark is a new dot-dot release - for example, if you have it in the epan folder of Wireshark 4.4.6, and you copy it to the epan folder of Wireshark 4.4.7 - it should work.
Otherwise - for example, if you have it in the epan folder of 4.2.12, and you copy it into the epan folder of 4.4.7 - it may work, but there is no guarantee that it will work.
